PETROS KOUFOVASSILIS

TOSITSA STR.

In Tositsa street, between the National Museum of Archaeology and the University of Athens (both leading institutions and symbols of Culture and Art, of Science and the anti-fascist Resistance) agonizing beings get lost in the dark...
The series "Tositsa Street" by Petros Koufovasilis is the symbolized projection of the marginal position , not of some gloomy synanogue, but from all forgotten souls and beggars within a vague and threatening space. The strong imagery is a morphological mixture of plausibility and ambiguity. It refers to the heartbreaking situation of a world falling apart beyond the broken retreat of the enslaved, to the enslaved society of its broken boundaries.
