WITH ONE DRACHMA IN ART

The course of the drachma in time and geography has been eventful until it was withdrawn in the museums to give its place to the euro. The last act of the fascinating history of drachma was written ten years ago when Greece joined the Eurozone on January 1, 2001, the drachma was withdrawn and Greece became a full member of EMU by completing the historical gap in the already existing community association.

The Titanium Yiayiannos Gallery presents the group exhibition with the title: “With one drachma in art”, where 95 artists palpate the form and visualize the image of the coin of drachma; images with dramatic elements, with heroic figures, with comments and sarcasm, with ancient and modern symbols. An exhibition in honor and in memory of drachma, which was the oldest currency in the history of mankind.
